講者介紹
Amy Sim is a Cultural Anthropologist who completed her doctoral research in the Department of Sociology, University of Hong Kong. Her current research includes the impact of labour migration on Indonesian domestic workers at destinations, such as Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore—in issues of identities and cultural change, sexuality, labour activism, overstaying, migrant women’s organizations, empowerment and leadership. She is the lead researcher for a number of projects in East and Southeast Asia focusing on women’s labour migration and undocumented communities in the region.

沈淑真博士現為香港大學社會學系助理教授。沈博士為文化人類學家,一直關注東南亞女性勞工的問題,近年從事研究勞工遷徙對在香港、澳門、台灣、馬來西亞和星加坡的印尼家庭傭工在身份認同、文化變、性別議題、勞工運動的影響。

講座提要

This presentation traces the development of the importation of foreign domestic labour into Hong Kong from the 1970s and reviews the issues involved in this development. It will give an overview of the situation of Foreign Domestic Helpers (FDH) in Hong Kong today and outline the challenges that lie ahead. In addition, this presentation will present an account of the developments in migrant worker organizations and locate these within global discourses and practice.

此講座將追溯自一九七零年代以來香港輸入外籍家庭傭工的發展、回顧當中涉及的不同議題,並簡介現今外籍家庭傭工在香港的情況和所面對的挑戰。另外,講座亦介紹數個本地傭工組織的發展及它們在全球傭工運動的論述和實踐。
